The Commemoration Committee, made up of members of the church and family members of the Emanuel Nine, planned the 2025 Emanuel Nine Commemoration. The Commemoration will feature a program of 10 days of events from June 17-28. The theme is Unity in the Community.

The CommUNITY Dinner

As part of the Commemoration, Transformation Table is honored to host a CommUNITY Dinner on Friday, June 20th. The event will be held at Joseph Fields Farm, on Johns Island, a 50-acre certified organic fruit and vegetable farm stewarded by third-generation Gullah-Geechee farmer, Joseph Fields and his wife Helen. The dinner features renowned Gullah-Geechee Chef BJ Dennis with cocktails provided by the Cocktail Bandits.

Joseph Fields Farm is a 50-acre, certified organic fruit and vegetable farm located on the fertile John's Island of Charleston, South Carolina.

Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Chef Benjamin “BJ” Dennis pays homage to the Gullah Geechee culture through his cooking, infusing the techniques of his ancestors, as well as the lessons of his grandparents about eating from the land, focusing on locally sourced ingredients from local farmers.

This dynamic duo and Charleston Ambassadors promote female empowerment through advocacy for the food and beverage community from a feminine, urban perspective.
