Emanuel Nine Families & Church Members Lunch

June 17, 2025, marks the 10th anniversary of the mass shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. The Commemoration Committee, made up of members of the church and family members of the Emanuel Nine, planned the 2025 Emanuel Nine Commemoration. The Commemoration will feature a program of 10 days of events from June 17-28. The theme is Unity in the Community.

Commemoration Through Connection

As part of the Commemoration, Transformation Table is honored to host a lunch specifically for the families and church members at The Avery Institute.

The Avery Institute is an archives and museum dedicated to preserving Afro-American history and culture in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Chef Benjamin “BJ” Dennis pays homage to the Gullah Geechee culture through his cooking, infusing the techniques of his ancestors, as well as the lessons of his grandparents about eating from the land, focusing on locally sourced ingredients from local farmers.
